So many runners make the mistake of going straight out of the door, expecting our bodies to perform at their best, which can put you at a greater risk of injury.
We’re all guilty of sitting too long and moving too little during our working hours and at home. To help get you prepared for your runs and help improve mobility I’ve put forward a few simple exercises you can do, from home (with the help of a foam roller).
Get into a good routine performing the exercises as often as you can and you’ll soon start noticing the difference.
Remember, it’s always better to be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to injuries.
Check out the video below… which is meant as a bit of fun with some serious exercises thrown in! I’ve filmed it on purpose in my front room, just to show you all that exercises like this CAN literally be performed in your house before stepping out of the door. It takes no time at all (ok this is x2 speed) but surely it’s worth spending 5mins getting everything moving before you run rather than picking up a frustrating niggle, which could of been all too easily avoided!
PS – I know I’m not the most flexible in the world – you should of seen me 12-months ago!!
