Barbell Bench Hip Thruster

 

Barbell Floor Hip Thruster

  • Place the bar across the pelvis/hips
  • Tuck your heels in towards your bum and keep your toes pointing forward
  • Drive through the heels to extend the hips
  • Lower the hips down towards the ground to complete the movement

Caution:

  • Only perform exercise if you feel capable of doing so without risk of injury or accident

Alternative:

  • Romanian Deadlift

Box Jumps

Purpose: Create explosive power to improve running economy directly transferable to sprint finishes and hill running

Technique: Place your feet hip width apart, bend your knees and flex your hips and torso in to a half squat position. Perform an explosive movement extending the hips, knees and ankles in to a vertical and slightly forward position landing on the box absorbing the impact through the knees and hips landing in your starting position on the elevated box. Maintain full control at all times.

Target Area: Glutes, Quads, Hamstrings, Calves.

Suggested Rep Range: 3 sets of 3 – 5 reps
